About Jamie

Jamie Wyant writer, artist, marketing professionalAs a young man, I studied fine arts in a cross disciplinary environment at the University of Wisconsin.  I also hold a doctorate in ecology from Colorado State University.

I learned that I wasn’t cut out for academia soon enough.  So I launched a career as a solo consultant.  That decision opened the world to me. I’ve been challenged to create community consensus for oil field restoration projects in arctic Alaska, multinational agroforesty projects in tropical Africa, and forestry projects in South Asia. Today, my work is steeped in the insights that come from experiences that spanned the world’s ecosystems and cultures.

That was all very cool, but after a particularly hair-raising experience in a remote corner of Pakistan, I returned to the United States and a product marketing manager role with Statware, a small software company in Corvallis, Oregon.  I earned my traditional marketing chops at Statware.

Today, I am a certified inbound marketing professional.

I make my home in Salem, Oregon where I live with my wife Susan, four cats and the best dog ever.

Community Service
I’ve coached nonprofit boards and executive directors within the animal welfare and performing arts sectors and contribute hundreds of hours annually to organizations like:

Willamette Humane Society
Salem Repertory Theatre
Salem Chamber Orchestra
Safe Haven Humane Society

Helping Peers
I founded Salem BizWiki when I realized that many of my peers were struggling with the same problems: no one has the time, energy, or capacity to analyze every aspect of every business situation that is encountered in just one day.

Salem BizWiki is an informal peer to peer learning organization for senior managers and owners in small, lean organizations.
