Communication Rap

The Executive Director performed The Communication Rap  when the Willamette Humane Society rolled out new branding, including a name change, as part of their 40th Anniversary.

Communications Rap

I’m talking to you about communication
Locally not across the nation

Three times a week on the radio
We tellin’ people what they need to know
We recommen’  this and we recommen’ that
How to care for their dog and that little cat

Bring critters home make yo’ fam’ly complete
Don’t let them roam out there on the street
Give ‘em clean water and good food to eat
Once and awhile top it off with a treat

Sponsors now they be thirty or more
are linin’ up at the shelter door
To pay for an ad on the Friday page
Is now the sensation, the trend, the rage

We started out, now don’t you see
Humane So-sigh-it-tee of the Will-am-ette Val-ley
A name so long when you’re on th’ phone
before you get it out, why its time to go home

So we cut it up and changed it around
Willamette Humane – its got a better sound

Picture this –  a little girl
with a diapered bottom and hair that curl
Its worse than that, perhaps you heard
She’s sittin’  there holden up the bird

So we threw that out, imagine that
and we settled on a dog and a cat
The logo’s hip with the younger set
but older folks, they ain’t got it yet

We started out in 1965
When you young punks was not alive
To celebrate the big four-oh
We wrote it up, don’t you know

In brief paws volumes one thru four
The last one now is just out the door

We got a new site on the worl’ wide web
Bein’ held together right now by Deb
The banner page it looks just fine
I especially like “Donate On Line”

Rappin’ like this – creatively
It don’t come easy – at least to me
I’m runnin’ out, can’t think no more
Besides, I think, I’m being a bore.
